Summary

NASCAR 06: Total Team Control is surprisingly one of the most hotly anticipated games to hit the gaming market for the NASCAR gaming series. Not only does the graphics look sharper and better quality looking, the sub-title of this game really stands out on its own. Since it won't be you, the player, getting all the credit and the career mode focusing on just you; you'll be working with your teammates to help get the team noticed more on the racing scene. The all-new Interactive Crew Chief Feature during the races is a very helpful tool to help get you and your teammates to the top. For instance you can draft off of your teammate to get to the front of the field or have your teammate block your opponent. If you want to get fast lap times, you can ask your teammate to follow you and cut the drag off of your car. The Swap Car feature lets you take control of your teammate's car and that can be helpful if you are aiming to try and build your team's prestige in Fight To The Top. The all new Phone system in Fight To the Top is impressive since not only can you listen to your Audio messages like you did in NASCAR 05: Chase For The Cup, you can also send E-mail messages to your contacts and also get helpful tips. And as always, Ace Moneymaker is your main agent in this game like in NASCAR 05. (Wish there was a way to get different agents) He also gives you tutorial sessions on how to use the Race Commands during the race. Overall this game should definitely be on your "Want" list if you are a hardcore NASCAR fan because you'll get a sense of just how important your teammates play in your success in the racing world.

WOW! A great game for any NASCAR fan.

This game was great. I absolutely love the total team control thing thats really kool but the Fight to the Top mode rocks i mean i could sit there and race two whole years in one day and still not be bored of it its just so fun. The one thingy i noticed about this video game is that Electronic Arts made some of the racers fake drivers. Why did they do something like that i mean i would like to know some of the WHELEN drivers real names because i havent heard of the WHELEN series befor but otherwise its a great game.!>!>!>>!>!>>!!

despite the voice recognition not quite living up to the hype, Total Team Control is still a solid NASCAR game.

hmmm.... what do we got today? oh yeah! NASCAR 06! i remember this game! lets review it! (segway to the review)

NASCAR 06:Total Team Control is the next installment in EA's long running NASCAR series. this year the big focus is not only finishing first, but making sure your teammates finish up there with you. to help you with this, EA has added a Voice Recognition feature into the game so you can "talk" to your crew chief. for the most part, the Voice Recognition leaves a lot to be desired, considering you have to be outrageous-ly clear to get it to read your voice. additionally, you might say one thing and have something else happen, which can be frustrating.

The Fight to the Top mode focuses on you signing contracts with teams and even owning real life NASCAR teams. this mode is still very good and the team managing part makes it very realistic. however, in some cases, you really wouldn't wanna own teams, but that depends on you. overall, this mode is the best of the bunch.

Game modes that make a return appearence include Dodge Challenge(formerly Lightning Challenge) and Speedzone. both modes, for the most part, really haven't changed. Dodge Challenge still has you recreating some of last year's craziest scenarios including last lap passes, defending the lead with a couple laps to go, and my personal favorite, getting through wrecks. Speedzone has you practicing drafting, passing, blocking, and time trials. both modes are still good, despite being the same. online play also returns, still allowing for four player racing, just like last year.

The graphics in 06 are possibly the best in the series, with better damage models, and better looking tracks and cars. the audio leaves a little to be desired. although the sound track is top notch and the engine sounds are good, your crew chief still sounds retarded, and some of the sounds in the game are a little off.

Overall, if you are a big time NASCAR fan, by all means play this game. for those who are casual fans, you may want to rent this. for the rest of you, this might not make you a new fan, but the deep Fight to the Top mode and always solid online may be able to entice you to buy this game.

+ deep Fight to the Top mode
+ graphics are very solid
- voice recognition not quite up to the hype
? where did i put the Jeff Gordon beverage holders?
- audio needs a little work
+ online play is still great
- online play really hasn't changed
+ Dodge Challenge and Speedzone modes still good
? "you not hungry for six pack, you hungry for Hot Pockets!"

NASCAR 06 isn't a bad game for NASCAR fans. It could use a few improvements though.

Summary

Well first off, I think they really need to improve the crashes. They are not very realistic. You smash into the wall front first at 180 mph and your front end gets a little scratched up? Don't think so. Second, the cars don't feel fast. Enough said. Third, Take out the fantasy drivers. Put in all of the real drivers without fantasy ones. None of the Whelen drivers are real, only about 4 or 5 of the CTS ones are real, only about half of the Busch Series ones are real, and a few of the Nextel Cup ones are fake. If we want to race with a fantasy driver then we will just create a driver. Just please put in all of the real drivers for each series.

Fourth, Please make the team ownership options deeper. Like when you own a team, you should be able to make new cars for your team, selectwhich drivers drive which car, manage the drivers' contracts, hire the drivers' crew chief/crew workers/etc., and just about anything else a real manager can do.

And finally, the graphics have been the same for a while, please change them too. Other than these things the game is great. So if you want a NASCAR game to buy then consider buying this one. Oh yeah, the soundtrack sucks. I only gave the sound an 8 because of the in-race sounds.

Nascar is great and so is the games. They are lacking in some ways, yet they are able to pull through.

Summary

Nascar 06 supplies you with enough head on action racing to fill enough of your need to crash and race. Though the most fun i got out of the game was turning around and crashing into other cars, it does deliver what you have come to expect from the great races and filling gameplay. Some flaws of the game are glitchy roads, like when your tire goes through and you can only see half of it. I mean, I have played a demo of Motorstorm at Circuit City and it has supplied my need for crashing and speed and such, but until i get a PS3, Nascar 06 will be one of my main suppliers.
