Lousy Game - Lousy mechanics - zero immersion - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Summary

Stay away from this garbage. Everything about this game is only eye candy- The entire experience for me has been nothing but a disaster. Right up from the bad cinematics, abhorrent storyline, ridiculous ramp up difficulty - this game leaves you clueless. I dont know how many times Ive ripped my hair - after beinh thrown into the midst of the "Storyline" mission - I complete it and am dropped in the midst of a hostile space. No way to escape - I blow up - just to realize the game has no AUTOSAVE at critical junctures.

Left to rot simiple to begin the entire mission again.

Some sectors are simply fog - wherein you have to sniff around to figure out where the gates are!! Sure this would be cool if there was a DECENT 3D map!!! The map itself it 2D with XY-YZ-XZ axis in 2D. You have to figure out toggling from these sub coordinates where to go and keep an eye of fo r the gate with approximation

ALL of this in the beginning of the game!!! in One Missoin - the bad guy drops a casket that needs to be picked up...you have no idea if its you-all you see is the casket and hte camera going round and round in cicles around it...you have no control over your ship and can be blown to bits while apparenlty your partner takes her own sweet time to pick it up...its random - u may live - u may die..with NO control over your fate

Everything about this game is BS - its slow, boring, irritating and sitting prettily in my garbage bin !!!

I'm going back to freelancer!! Do.NOT.Play.This.Game!!!

Space sim with dog fighting, vague empire building and more exploring than you'd ever care for (well, maybe) =D

Summary

To put it bluntly, this game is long, freeking long, but in a good way :). The in game story is a joke at best, but people who enjoy space sims usually don't care for that. This was the most amazing, time consuming, enjoying game I have ever played, loads of ships, loads of ways to make money, very enjoyable and immersion.

This game is not for the impatient, (although I am normally impatient, I don't rage quit when I die in this game lol) it takes long long looooong hours if your goal is to build rep with the races to max and slowly start trading for profit, then to create factories for more profit while pirating pirate ships simultaneously :), to finally be able to build your own fleets, and own your own capital ships (aka destroyers). IMO rep grinding is stupidly slow, but that's almost okay since you can leave the game on while you sleep in fast mode while your trading ships/factories cash in and you hopefully don't die :), there's always risk ;)

This game has alot to offer, theres constant action in or near pirate sectors, more exploring than you can imagine, and imo this game has one of, if not THE best feeling of satisfaction when you finally accomplish whatever end goals you started for yourself.

To top this off, the community for this game is off the charts, these games are updated like mad, they put those big companies to a shredding shame when it comes to continued support, theres more mods than you can ever imagine, and a very helpful community to help you with whatever choices or problems you may ever encounter.

If you love space, you MUST try this game, you can get this game on ebay for super cheap or get it on steam for 10 bucks, they have the no cd key released so you can take it out of your steam folder, and make an "Egosoft" folder in program files for it and play it whenever, wherever and however.

I didn't give it a 10 because the in game story was a joke if you compare it to other blockbusters

Summary

This is my first game in the series and wow i am blown away. The level of freedom in this game almost make it seem like an MMO. You can for go the story all together and just trade and become rich, or you can guard cargo ships here and there. The graphics are simply Breathtaking , make you feel like you are flying through the beautiful void of space. Accompanying the beautiful Graphics is a more beautiful soundtrack , filled with memorizing pianos and ambient sounds i found myself just drifting in space without a care in the world, this is one of those game that you can just lose yourself just drifting and you would not mind.

In short if you are a fan of open ended games and space games this is a game you must get. For Steam users this one a must buy , one of the best deals on steam to date. Trust me you won't regret it.

Plenty of rough spots, and not for everyone, but a great game nonetheless.

Summary

X3 Reunion is probably one of those love-it-or-hate-it type of games. Its basic premise is something that will appeal to some people a lot, and to some people none. That is, Privateer taken to its logical extreme. Everything from playing merchant, fighter-pilot, fleet manager, and business tycoon, all in one game. And, as expected with such an ambitious goal, there's a little bit of rough in it.

The first thing to get out of the way for newcomers is that this game requires patience. You'll be spending plenty of time moving between stations, or slowly building up your trade empire, and this game isn't for those who want a quick payoff. Once you start to establish yourself however, things move quicker and the rewards become more tangible, though so do the risks.

I will say this, this is a hard game to get into even with the aforementioned issues. The controls are complex, and in some cases not very intuitive, and the economy is diverse and dynamic, requiring a bit of smarts to figure out what's going on.

Once you get used to things however, the game is smart, in both combat and economics. And what's more, it has a large and creative community creating various scripts and mods to further your enjoyment, all on the main Egosoft forums!

The plot itself is stupid, but you get adventures all your own building up an empire from the ground up. The feeling of accomplishment as you build your first station, get your first capital ship, or any number of other things is quite fulfilling, and that merits this game a high rating despite such flaws.

Try it, just be prepared for the long-run.
